Theme Unit - Health & Career

Students should learn a variety of safety rules for both home and school, such as identifying and avoiding dangers like strangers or fire, knowing emergency procedures, and practicing safe behavior like not running in classrooms or hallways. They must learn about physical safety, and reporting any bullying or suspicious activity to a trusted adult. Safety topics should include understanding road safety both while being in a car and/or being a pedestrian, bike safety, water safety, playground safety, bus safety, weather safety and safety around electricity. They also need to learn how to respond to emergencies by understanding how to make 911 calls including unlocking the emergency feature on a parent's smart phone.
