Animals

Students should be taught the basic characteristics of animals, including that they are living things that need food and water. They should learn to recognize and name different animals, understand what animals need to survive (food, water, shelter), and explore how animals move and use their body parts. Additionally, they can learn about different animal groups like mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, arachnids and insects, and how animals are important to humans.
